Ouroboros takes place in 2012, at the cusp of the end of the world. This piece acknowledges the predictions of a number of different religious and astrological systems of belief regarding a period of great turmoil and upheaval, possibly resulting in divine intervention or the end of the world as we know it. I Ching, the Chinese oracle's "book of Changes" predicts December 21, 2012, as a time of balancing of opposites or the acceptance of the inevitability. The Mayan calendar ends on December 21, 2012. According to Nostradamus, it's during this time of upheaval that the "male" as Nostradamus calls this force, will emerge...In Israel the Essense have resurfaced at Qumran, praying for our souls and waiting the return of the teacher of righteousness. December 21, 2012, will also see the ecliptic of our solar system; it will intersect with the galactic equator of the Milky Way. It is at this eve of this great culmination of events that Ouroboros begins. The storyline weaves together several different lives affected by this prophetic date. Doctor Diana Janice, a psychologist who volunteers her services at the VA, is at the center of much of the action. She works with a group of veterans, all seeping with intelligent commentary and insight regarding the current state of the United States and the rest of the world. The plot develops Diana's complex personal life as well as the individual stories of the each of the VA group members.
