Barnes and Noble, Books a Million and many independent booksellers. Its a collection of essays and memoirs - some previously published - but most new since my daughter's murder. It is somber and contemplative in parts, but in the end leaves the reader uplifted, encouraged and joyful. Anels is about getting thru this life's struggles on hope and faith alone. All short stories, easy reading, (150 pgs), many animal antics and other anecdotal humor, mixed in with the despair of losing my only child, 21 yo, at the hands of her fiance'. Some of the more serious topics include: domestic violence, mercy for murderers, forgiveness, healing, parenting, religious dogmatism (a bad thing)....but also the themes of dogs, horses, stewardship of creation and quiet gardens, wildlife and their habitats, how animal companions can help us heal physically, the beauty and gift of living as a minimalist in the woods and being surrounded by nature instead of urban sprawl, how God speaks to us all in different ways but loves us all unflinchingly, and so on. My work has been compared to Thoreau and O.Henry - and so far is doing well! I have 2 radio interviews scheduled, book signings, etc. and Angels in the Landfill has gotten good reviews from everyone who's read it. It was cathartic for me to write, and offers hope and healing for those who mourn.

Tim Perry (author of Blessed is She; Living Lent with Mary, Morehouse Press/Continuum) endorsed Angels in the Landfill and said of it:' very few of us have walked the tragic path that Carlynn has; I daresay even fewer have come through it with the grace and confidence that underwrites this book and shines. Hers is a testimony to the goodness of God and the remarkable ways He speaks to those who have ears.'
The book is categorized as 'religion' but the BISAC code lists it as healing/spirituality. I'm not a bible-thumper and I am angered at 'damnation ministries' who would exclude some from communion with - and the love of - our God who indeed cares for every sparrow that falls from the sky, and catches every tear we cry.
