CHAPTER 1: Historical Background:
This chapter highlights the history of computer from the inception where British Scientist built a processing machine using binary system. It traces the evolution of computers from 1st to 5th generation where in the 5th generation computers expected to be built in the future that can be able to reason like human. The chapter will give the reader a firsthand orientation on how computers actually started.
CHAPTER 2: The Personal Computer
This chapter educates the reader on personal computer talking about desktops and laptops. It exposes the reader to the Hardware and Software components of personal computer and subsequently highlights the structure on how personal computers work.
CHAPTER 3: Basic Operating Devices
This chapter exposes the reader to the 3 basic devices in operating a personal computer, that is, the monitor, the mouse and the keyboard. The functions of these 3 devices in highlighted where in the case of the keyboard, special keys are enumerated and described accordingly with the aid of illustrations.
CHAPTER 4: General Knowledge on Computer
This chapter presents and describes a computer from the professional point of view. That is, computer functions in 3 categories; ANALOG, DIGITAL and HYBRID. These devices as known vary in terms of operating principles, nature of design and application.
CHAPTER 5: Windows Operating System
An average learner will always ask this question; what is operating system? Operating system is the blood and soul of a personal computer. Windows being the dominant operating system available is described in this chapter in a way that suits all categories of learners. Meanwhile, readers are also exposed to the knotty gritty of operating a personal computer from how to start it to the point of activating application programs. The reader is expected to enjoy this chapter as it highlights almost all the key issues involve in using personal computer with adequate illustrations. The illustration depicts tools, icons, menus, tool bars, etc.
CHAPTER 6: Program Application System
Computer programs are integral part of computers as they are used in carrying out various tasks according to the purpose in which they are made. Therefore this chapter looks into the general operating system of programs in considering the basic aspects with the intention to orient the reader against all programs. This is so as application programs are very similar in nature. For instance, the process through which a file is opened in one application program is also the same as in others. Meanwhile, the chapter highlights those processes and presents them to readers with illustrations and diagrams in a way that will keep them on top of the programs.

Everybody wants to type own documents but not everybody also knows how to go about it in word processing. In this chapter, readers are taught how to process a document using word processors or application programs such as Microsoft Word, Adobe Pagemaker, etc. Readers are expected to find this chapter very useful. Crucial typing terminologies are explained together with the step by step ways to follow to prepare documents including business letters. Illustrations are also given.

This is one of the shortest chapters of the book yet it exposes the reader on how to format or correct errors and put changes to a document in an elaborate manner. The illustration used in describing how to achieve such level of formatting requires high level computer skills.
CHAPTER 9: Document Printing
Printing documents on computer is not difficult but orientation on how to achieve best printing result is required. This chapter describes how to go about setting up a document for printing with illustrations as guidance. It also include printer troubleshooting, which means how to solve problems users encounter while printing documents.
CHAPTER 10: Software Installation
From time to time users always come about new software and programs of interest but the problem is always how to install it appropriately on the computer. This chapter exposes the reader to the various methods to follow and install a program on computer. This includes how to install a newly acquired printer.
CHAPTER 11: Working in a Network Environment
The fact that users are sometimes expected to work with computers that are connected to a network of other computers brings the room to expose readers to such. Therefore, chapter 11 discusses the basic elements involve in working in a network environment. This goes to a length where readers are guided on how to download a file from a network computer.
CHAPTER 12: The Internet
One of the excitements of the 21st century is the internet. Chapter 12 discusses the internet in an elaborate manner that will enable readers familiarize themselves with the concepts of the internet and how to go about browsing the web. There are also two important illustrations in this chapter for Internet Browsers and that of Email Box. Other enlightening features are also included.
CHAPTER 13: Computer and Health
This is one of the key chapters in the book. It highlights in an elaborate manner some of the key factors that affect the health of an IT user with some remedies. Readers will find some of the things that they did not expect, which bothers on their health while using the computer.
CHAPTER 14: General Applications
Lastly, chapter 14 intimates the reader on the isolated applications and functions involved in operating a personal computer. These applications are very important and can be very useful to readers. Some of the applications include among others, exploring the computer, maintaining a computer, how to choose a personal computer, installing fonts, etc. ***
