| "Godless Grief: An Atheist Guide to Grief and Loss" was written in response to the lack of information about rituals and grief processes available to those who do not believe in fairy tale entities. The matter of fact guide is written with humor, and empathy for atheists and for those who prefer a non-religious based manner of dealing with grief. Chapters include, "Explaining Death to a Child of An Atheist", "Closure Rituals", "Creating an American Way". The book follows traditions of loss that have been used by cultures for thousands of years. It warmly allows for the grief of family members and friends, whether the loss is by death or by divorce, using kindness and common sense. After the author searched for eleven months for any guide of this sort, she decided the solution was to create the guide for other atheists and non-sectarians, who want to have some structure and traditions in dealing with loss. |
