| It is 302 BC and the Macedonians rule the world. Alexander the Great has been dead for a long time, but his glorious legend is ever present in the minds of men. Demetrius the Besieger has proclaimed himself heir to Alexander and is worshipped as a living god, but Cassander, Lysimachus, Seleucus and Ptolemy will not succumb to his rule. The world is not big enough for all of them. Vast armies are preparing for the final confrontation.
Young Pyrrhus arrives in Athens to join the forces of Demetrius. There he also meets Antigonus Gonatas, the son of Demetrius. Three men - a living god, a young daredevil and a puny philosopher - spend the winter of preparation in Athens. They drink many toasts in the backroom of the Parthenon, not knowing what adventures destiny has planned for them. They all try to live up to the legend of Alexander the Great, each in his own way. But who is victorious in the end? |
