This was a ghostwritten software reference--a project I took on because I was uniquely qualified, with specialist expertise, to describe some of the technical aspects of the software. The original writer was well qualified but did not have enough hands-on experience or knowledge of the inner workings to satisfy the needs of high-end, expert readers and thus subcontracted me to do the work.
Actually, I've done several ghostwriting projects. I sometimes write the entire reference and sometimes the more technical chapters, depending upon the needs of the writer.
To date, publishers have been very happy with the results. No, I won't tell you who they are. That's why it's called ghostwriting. Other authors got the credit but I got the money. Hey, don't laugh—it was good money. | |
