| Every year too many people (some of them outdoor professionals) run into trouble because they didn't recognize or anticipate the hazards they encountered in the wilderness. The skills of survival cannot be learned by trial-and-error - there are some mistakes you might get to make only once. The Field & Stream Wilderness Survival Handbook details everything you need to know to stay alive in the wild. |

In July 2002 I returned from 14 months in the wild, living on a log cabin homestead that I'd built using only hand tools. This project was hands-on research for my 7th book, "2001: A Wilderness Odyssey." During this often brutal and always arduous experience I used the skills and techniques detailed in "The Field & Stream Wilderness Survival Handbook" as part of my daily life. I couldn't have survived the bugs, drought, or the Blizzard of 2001 without them. That I did survive is proof that the information found between the covers of this book can keep its reader alive in virtually any environment on the planet.
