|LAW AND ORDER magazine, an international magazine based in the U.S., once again responded favourably to my query to them regarding the World Police/Fire Games to be held in 1997 in Calgary.
After interviewing dozens of police officers from both the Calgary Police Service and the Royal Canadian Mounted Police detachment in Calgary, the health and fitness advisor for the Calgary Police Service, and the assistant fire chief who was the Games Organizer, I created the article to reflect the optimism and courage of the officers and firefighters who participated in the games.
Since the article was published well in advance of the games, it gave valuable information to police officers and firefighters from around the world on what to expect in Calgary, how to get around, and what to do for vacation fun after the games were over.
All my police articles for magazines and newspapers reflect the high esteem held for police officers around the world, the hard job our society has entrusted them with, the internal problems they deal with, and the dangers they regularly face, usually with bravery and courage.
