I am a forty-something Yorkshire woman with a passion for writing. I am hard-working and love to get my teeth into something gritty and involved. I seem to have a particular talent for translating complicated information into easy-to-digest text. I began editing the West Yorkshire fibromyalgia newsletter in 1994, and in 1996 began to pen 'Living with Fibromyalgia', which was published in March, 2000. It was the first British-written self-help book on the subject. My second Sheldon book, 'The Fibromyalgia Healing Diet' is due to be published in November.
I am now very involved in the world of fibromyalgia, being a resident writer for the monthly UKfibromyalgia.com FaMily magazine and the Fibromyalgia Association UK Journal. Recently I have been involved in the formation of the All-Party Parliamentary Group on fibromyalgia, which will help raise awareness of the condition. 'Living with Fibromyalgia' is selling very well for a non-fiction title. In fact, it is in reprint already, and is due to be published in Italy in October.
My main aim, however, is to be a published novelist! Having completed 'Jealous Minds', a kidnap/murder mystery set in Yorkshire towards the end of the Second World War, I am now penning 'Greywalls', set at the end of the war. It is about displaced Italian girls brought to England to work in the woollen mills, at a time when industry was in decline. 'Greywalls' is the name of the hostel in which they were housed.
I plan to continue writing self-help books, but am now looking for a publisher for 'Jealous Minds'. Please email me for a synopsis - I'm sure you won't be disappointed. Alternatively, publishers with a health matter in mind, please get in touch!
