Manuel John

Arima, Trinidad and Tobago

Yoou can say that I am a total Arimian (if such a thing could be acknowledged). I was born here, I attended the Arima Government Secondary School, and I still live and work here. However, through a job as a delivery driver I was able to explore my homeland (and get paid for it in the process).

I am the type of person that doesn't like crowds, I prefer to be outside than in. My philosophy is that a bad day of fishing is still better than the best day at work.

I always had the habit of writing short stories. When I started working as a security officer I used this custom to help pass the time between night patrols, but I usually just tossed them in the trash.

One day I blogged a few on a chatroom site and it got me some encouraging comments from a few of the members. One of those and I became good friends and she challenged me to attempt a full length novel.

Sadly, it was not until she passed away that I decided to try. Since then I have written a total of 3 novels, and I am presently close to finishing my 4th.

I have had contact with a number of literary agents, but after investing a small fortune and receiving nothing on their part but after becoming tired of false promises and receipts, I have decided to shelve the dream until a later date.

I have joined this website just out of curiosity. I was web surfing and it just happened to find me. I honestly did not believe that such a thing would have existed, but it is good to know that I am not the only person on this island that holds this dream.
