Ing.P.Eur. N.J. Budd. P.Eng (UK). MSPE. F.I.Diag.E. F.I.A.Q.P. QA/QC Engineer/Consultant.

I was born in Portsmouth, Royal Naval & Marine Maternity Hospital 1st October 1938.

We moved to Hayes, Middlesex in 1940 and then to Bletchley Park, where my father worked during WWII in 1940 through until 1949 when we moved to the Plough Inn at Simpson, Near Bletchley.

In 1950 I attended the Royal Hospital School, Holbrook which before it moved there in 1932 it was the Royal Palace at Greenwich donated by the then King William and Queen Mary to be converted into an Institution for Relief and Support of Seamen.

I left in 1955 and joined the Royal Navy until 1960, as a Voice Radio & RADAR Operator Served on various ships and shore stations in England, Mediterranean and the Far East as RADAR Operator & Plotter, communications ship/aircraft and on Coast Watching Duties in the Far East.

In 1959 on July the 25th I married Sarah Doreen Charnock and lived in Leighton Buzzard until 1983.

When I left the Royal Navy, I had various jobs and could not settle down to life in Civvy Street.

Eventually obtained a position in 1961 in Non-destructive Testing with a local company, which gave me the chance to become involved in a new career and started as a Trainee Radiographer working my way up to Senior Radiologist and Laboratory Manager.

During my 14 years with this company, I travelled extensively around the UK and Overseas as a lecturer in Radiography and Radiation Safety as the Company Trouble Shooter.

I left this company and started as a Contract worker and in 1980 our son Edward Keith was killed on his Motor Cycle and we moved to our house in New Port Richey, Florida in 1983 to get away from all the memories and spent 3 years there, returning to the UK in 1986.

As I could not get work, we turned our hands to all sorts of work, Cleaning, selling Computers, House Painting, Gardening anything to earn a living.

I came to South Africa in 1990 and found work in Cape Town with the South African Breweries on the expansion of a bottling line they were upgrading, this took 3 years and eventually we moved to Johannesburg and then to Amanzimtoti, KwaZulu Natal and worked as Self Employed working as a Consultant in Industrial Efficiency, General Construction, NDE. PetroChemical. Power Stations. Documentation. Writing Procedures, Lecturing. Vendor Inspection. Work Areas during my work as a Quality Assurance and Quality Control Engineer: - Norway, North Sea Oil Rigs, North Africa, Dubai, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Iran, South Africa, Indonesia, Ghana, Holland with Contract Values: - from 100,000 Pounds Sterling to Rands 4 Billion on the Durban Harbour Deepening and Widening, as Quality Assurance Manager.

I retired 3 years ago and needed something to occupy myself with as due to my wife being virtually house bound I really could not leave her by herself and became a House Husband and during my spare time------writing.

I know it is a bit long but I have been around for a LONG time 73 years. All I want to do now is sit on the stoop with my wife and adopted family and have a good chat, meal and some very good South African wine at the beautiful wooden house, which my adopted daughter and her son built for us with a Jacaranda tree growing through the roof of the outside decking.
