I grew up in West Texas, and I live there now -- but spent about twenty years in between, roaming the planet. Although I'm a zoologist/wildlife biologist by education, I've managed to make a living as a soldier, sailor, professional hunter, horse trainer, diver, prospector, rodeo cowboy, trapper... and a number of less exciting occupations as well. My writing consists primarily of nature and zoological essays, delivered in a humorous manner and highly flavored with tales of my past adventures. I've published one book -- Lone Star Menagerie: Adventures with Texas Wildlife (Republic of Texas Press, 2000) and articles in Pacific Star, Enchanted Rock, and Troika. I won first place in the 2001 El Paso Writer's League Contest for my short story "The Grave Robber".
Interests: Writer on wildlife and natural history topics. Naturally, I enjoy roaming around the wilds doing research. By the way, I'm also a pretty fair illustrator.
