Janine Morton

Agent: None

My writing interests and accomplishments are varied.

I was first published in a now-defunct writer's magazine when I wrote about organization in research. Thereafter, I compiled two no-fee recipe books for my church, plus two no-fee office manuals for organizations to which I belonged. At the same time and at the urging of others, I wrote a highly marketable cookbook and signed a book contract with a reputable publisher -- ten months before my publisher absconded with millions of dollars, propelling the company into bankruptcy and prompting eventual criminal and bankruptcy proceedings. I am remarketing the manuscript -- rejected a contract last year -- and continue to hope to see the book at Barnes & Noble.

I have also written a weekly personal commentary column for a local newspaper, each column with my byline and about the human essence -- embellished with my jaded humor. In addition, I edited a homeowners' association newsletter for seven years.

At present, I am revising a collection of personal essays I hope to some day publish -- before or after the cookbook!

Having disbanded my writer's group two years ago because it had difficulty growing, I'm now interested in online discussions about the writing craft I hold dear. Surely I can learn and help from the comfort of my chair!

Interests: Writing nonfiction about people and life -- with a humorous twist -- and about the administrative side of business, minus the humor. I also enjoy long walks, travel, reading nonfiction, especially biographies, and cooking, knitting, yardwork, and spending
