I write to communicate complex scientific and legal information in ways that reach
beyond professional or expert audiences. I began writing professionally at
seventeen. My first paid articles were a series of species profiles for the
Pennsylvania Fish Commission's Office of Information and Education. Since then
I've written professionally for environmental litigation, natural and environmental
science publishing, commercial and public radio and television, and print media.

I've won awards from the US Department of Agriculture - Farm Service Agency,
Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources, the Wisconsin Association of
Environmental Educators, the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency, Mansfield State
College and the Pennsylvania Association of Biology Teachers for my work.

I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Biology from Mansfield State College, a Master of
Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, Gaylord Nelson Institute and a
Juris Doctorate from the University of Minnesota Law School.

Interests: Environmental science and technical writing, legal writing and science-based fiction, in areas of environmental risk, natural resources and natural history.
