I started writing books about 6 years ago, although I did write some short stories as long ago as the 1970s.
I was the editor of the laboratory Newsletter "Bugs" for Public Health Laboratory Service - Leicester, it had a circulation of approximately 80 copies and I have been published in several magazines - Open Canoe sailing Group's 'Gossip', Dinghy Cruising Association's 'Journal', H & E monthly, The Canoeist and Emag 'Duckworks'. I have a Blog which I try to update at least once a week - www.jtsphotoblog.blogspot.com - it is a photo- diary of my walks, with dog, around Leicestershire and further afield.
I've been involved in outdoor pursuits since the age of 5 years but about six years ago I injured my back, so I have to take it easy now.
It was because of my enforced slowing down, that I started thinking about writing. My first book "The Curse of the Sin Eater" flowed from just one small idea and a question.
I have, what might be called, an OCD. I cant write a story on paper because if I make a mistake, I have to start that page again. I cant concentrate on a page with crossings out. So the Computer/word processor has been a boon.
I use a pen name because my own name, when typed into Google, returns nearly a million hits - the vast majority are nothing to do with me. Interests: Writing, wildlife photography, canoeing, sailing, wilderness survival,
motorcycling
