bethulie, South Africa Email: bobturner@freemail.absa.co.za i started my working life as an agent for foreign firms,had my own agency business.then legislation pressured merchants to buy south african made my life difficult as i was in textiles(the rag trade). i then did the best thing possible i joined general motors south african, when they operated in port elizabeth south africa. there i was employed as a buyer. i learnt a great deal with them and began to value the american way. so much so that i studied with the newspaper institute of america and graduated in 1984. then i started writing seriously and through their writers institute i received my certificate in fiction writing in 1993. life is never easy. to increase my experience i took a position in the building trade selling bricks. that was when south africa was trying to correct their ways and began building seriously for the black states. it was impossible to supply the countries need for bricks and instead of selling i was pacifying clients that were subject to penalties for falling behind deadlines. when this pressure came to a close, so did i and concentrated on writing. now retired i write full time and really value the insights gained from the newspaper institute of america and the writers institute of america. they have taught me how to write and to know what i am doing when i'm writing.
Interests: i am a full time writer and have written 5 stage plays and fourteen short stories. at present i am working on my first novel
