Lansdale, Pennsylvania, United States
Was born and raised in Levittown, PA, just north of Philadelphia. Developed a strong interest and talent in the natural sciences at an early age, as well as reading, arts, and language. Was told by my 11'th grade English teacher that I "wrote beautifully."
Due to my having Asperger's Syndrome (which I didn't discover until 2007), I struggled personally and socially and didn't enter university (Drexel in Philadelphia) until 1983. Studied chemistry and received by BS with GPA of 3.86 in 1986, then matriculated to the University of Pennsylvania, where I received my MS in 1988.
From 1988 -- 2001 I worked full time, largely for the Rohm and Haas company. At this time I also married and had two children, Elizabeth and Benjamin, who are now grown. Also during this time I steadily wrote short science fiction, of whic Stan Schmidt and ANALOG Science Fiction and Fact purchased thirteen.
Much of the 2000s where "lost years" for me, as I struggled with my mental/emotional problems and substance abuse. Finally in 2008 I began work on my first book, "Wondering About", a book on science and curiosity and something of an "intellectual autobiography."
More recently I have returned to science fiction, and am currently working on a sequel to a story published in ANALOG in the 1990s. I have also largely completed another science book, on chemistry.
