I am a writer from the Delaware/Philadelphia area. I received my M.A. in Writing Studies from Saint Joseph’s University in Philadelphia. I work full time as the Delaware Valley Reporter for a legal magazine based in Pasadena California called Courthouse News. I freelance regularly for a Delaware Today Magazine, a regional magazine in Delaware; two newspapers, The Garnet Valley Press and The Daily Times and an online magazine called Gimme This & That. I am also a Philadelphia Relationship Examiner or Examiner.com My freelance work has also appeared in Philadelphia Magazine and Saint Joseph’s University Literacy Journal The Avenue. This year, I am the 2011 Editor-in-Chief of the Lierary Journal The Avenue.
As you could infer, I love to write, but my true writing passion can be found at my blog www.lanamorelli.com where I write about life as a 20something. I started this blog to use as my thesis for Master Degree in Writing Studies, (I am the first and only student to obtain an M.A. from Saint Joseph’s University using a blog!) Needless to say, the blog started with a small reader base, just family and friends, but quickly expanded. The blog is now endorsed by the Delaware County Daily Times, where I’m coined “Delco’s 20something Blogger.” I bought my own “.com” last April and my website www.lanamorelli.com average about 2,700 hits a month. My blog is called “Straight Up, On the Rocks or With A Twist” and I am currently working on turning it into a book I’m calling “Tastefully Inappropriate.”
The book’s chapter entries are similar to the blog entries on my website, but are more polished and tweaked a bit. My writing chronicles the life experience and perspectives of a truthful, brutally honest, 20something. I describe it as this…If “Chicken Soup for the Soul” went to Vegas and had a shot gun wedding with a slightly more reserved “Sex and the City” then my book would be their love child. :) Odd, but accurate! My writing is conversational, includes vignettes, reflections and (I hope) leaves the reader with something to take away and remember. I am finishing the book proposal in the next few weeks and I hope to start shopping for a literary agent…unless one, or a publisher finds me first.
If you’re an interested agent or publisher…contact me already!
