Rich Binsacca
Boise, Idaho, United States Email: bcs@micron.net Rich Binsacca is a nationally award-winning real estate journalist and author (see complete list of books and awards below), specifically with regards to architectural design and construction issues.
Rich earned a degree in Journalism from the University of Missouri-Columbia in 1987 before becoming an editor for Builder magazine, a national, monthly trade/business publication for home builders and architects published by Hanley-Wood, LLC in Washington, DC. He subsequently joined the editorial staff at The Practical Homeowner, a (now-defunct) national, bi-monthly consumer lifestyle publication published in the San Francisco Bay Area. Since moving to Boise, Id., in 1993, he has worked primarily as a freelance journalist, author, and editor.
What you don't see in this overview, however, is Rich's dedication to deadlines, a willingness (in fact, a preference) to work as part of a production team, and a lack of "ego" about his work that allows for the best possible end-product. While he takes great pride in his work, he respects the editing and marketing processes that are essential to delivering what the client and/or audience wants and expects.
While Rich's career has focused on architectural and construction topics, he has a wide range of interests and experiences -- as a single father, in public relations and advertising, with technology, as a youth sports coach, among others -- and his skills as a journalist and writer translate to any subject.
Rich's books include: -- About Your House with Bob Yapp (1997; Bay Books & Tapes; a companion title to the syndicated PBS television series); -- The Home Building Process (2000; Home Planners, LLC); -- Container Gardening (2000; Creative Publishing International); -- Garden Pools, Fountains and Watercourses (2001; Creative Publishing International); -- Vacation Homes: A Complete Guide to Building a Weekend Getaway (2001; Home Planners, LLC).
Professional awards include: -- Jesse H. Neal Award for Editorial Excellence (2011, 2000, 1991, 1990, 1989; American Business Publishers); -- Gold Award, Technical Article (1999 & 1996; American Society of Business Press Editors); -- Best Magazine Series (1999 & 1994; National Association of Real Estate Editors). Interests: Architecture, real estate, home building; parenting (single parent); youth sports (coaching); sports (all);
