A closet writer for years, Beth Homicz graduated from Georgetown University in 1990 with a bachelor of science in language degree, and has lived a gadfly's life ever since, earning her living in jobs ranging from disc jockey to occult bookstore manager.
In 1994, Beth qualified as a licensed professional tour guide in Washington, D.C., and has since worked with over 13,000 travelers as a tour director, mainly for student groups, all over the East Coast. She'll reveal the most humorous and memorable moments from this career in the book she's currently writing, Heck on Wheels: Adventures of a Washington, D.C. Tour Guide and a Cast of Thousands. An excerpt from the book was recently published in the Washington Post's Style section. She also has two works of fiction in the pipeline, one especially for kids.
Beth lives very happily in Northern Virginia with her flamepoint cat, Seashell. She is a contributing member of the Libertarian Party (www.lp.org), and is active in many tourism industry associations through her contract work with New World Tours (www.newworldtours.com). Her favorite pastimes include devouring Agatha Christie mysteries and designing an owner-built home for the farm she plans to create within the next few years.
