After beginning college as a engineer, I switched majors a couple of times and found myself out of school with a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Sculpture. No one was clamoring for my services so I continued working in construction until I had a chance to stay in Italy. That lasted a year, then the Army intervened. The following year I was out of the Army and back in construction, so when a neighbor suggested that we take his sailboat around the world, I agreed.
The trip ended in Tahiti when the owner returned to the Mainland and vanished, leaving me and two other crew members stranded. For a while we had work on the Bounty, which was there for Marlon Brando's version of the classic story. I learned fabric design and managed to stretch out my stay for nearly a year. After catching a ride on another sailboat to Hawaii I remained in Honolulu for several years.
The Tahiti stay was the inspiration for my first completed book, "Out Of The Mainstream". An agent was interested and tried unsuccessfully to sell it
Two years ago I discovered a couple of writers' web sites and honed my writing skills. At the same time I learned how to write in a way that now gives me pleasure.
My running group and the work of a next-door neighbor led to my first mystery, "Murder On The Run". I enjoyed writing it so much that I finished a sequel, "Murder On The Vine" and joined the Mystery Writers Of America. MOTV will be published this year, I believe, by Treble Heart Books.
Currently I have two works in progress, a sequel to the Tahiti book that takes place in Hawaii titled "Echoes In Paradise", and a third in my mystery series named "Murder On The Screen"..
