Ian Weaver is from Louth, Lincolnshire and was brought up against a service background; his Father a serving member of the RAF for just short of forty years. Ian was educated in Grantham and joined the Fleet Air Arm, Royal Navy as an Observer on Anti-Submarine Seaking helicopters in 1979. He served on various ships around the world including HMS Endurance in Antarctica; the setting for the sequel to Time and Again.
In 1989 Ian transferred to the Royal Air Force and flew as a navigator in Tornado F3 fighter aircraft. After a tour at RAF Leuchars, Scotland, he qualified as an instructor at RAF Coningsby. In 1996 he was involved in a mid-air collision and ejected suffering serious injuries to his head, neck and chest. Two years later he was medically discharged and was employed by the RAF teaching in the Tornado Simulator at Coningsby. In 2009 he was made redundant as the F3 started to be phased out of service and he now lives in North Hykeham, Lincoln, pursuing his writing career.
His first novel has taken a long time in the writing and evolved almost as an accident. Learning to use a word processor in the early days of desktop computers it started as a short story and was just a means to an end. Feeling he had a flare for writing he expanded the tale and enjoyed the pastime until his accident in 1996. The book was shelved during the first few years of his recovery and readers may be surprised to hear that a lot of the early chapters of the book, written before his accident, reflect true life. The book was finished and shelved again, only seeing daylight for his own enjoyment until a chance meeting with Paul Mould. With encouragement from his wife Fran the book was offered for publication and here we are. Ian is now working on the final chapters of a sequel.
Ian enjoys story-telling and this is reflected in his writing style. His first novel covers several genres; primarily action and adventure but with the inclusion of some fantasy. His influences include Desmond Bagley, and more recently, Clive Cusslerís earlier novels.
Ian is married with 2 children and 3 step children. He enjoys golf, photography, entertaining and socialising with his family and friends. Of course that is when heís not fulfilling his duties as a full time house husband and novelist.
