Eva Schawohl

Bern, Switzerland

It is everyone's dream to see their words
published, their names in type, perhaps even
to be remembered for a single shining
achievement. Realistically, most of us will
never see ourselves with the great and
glorious - but that is what dreams are for, to
keep hope for another day, alive.

If I were to say anything about who I am,
perhaps I would use the words idealist, or
even optimist - but the humbling effects of
too many dead ends does not allow for the
expansion of praise to include exceptional,
extraordinary. Yet I have had an extraordinary
life. I have lived on three continents and
though I have not perhaps slept under the
stars in a Nubian desert, I have smelled the
salty Sri Lankan sea and watched their world
go up in flames.

Travel is my life, a cliche to the untainted.
The world is too big to let it lie there alone, I
have to go and keep it company.
