I just turned 60 in December 2009. I am married; I have two children, four grandchildren, and twin great granddaughters, who joined the world in early January of 2009. A third great grandchild will be joining our world sometime in April or May of 2010. And I love them all very dearly. it's a boy! I've always enjoyed reading mystery novels and some science fiction. I am musically inclined, and I hear music in words as well as instruments and voices. At almost age 40, filled with trepidation and the fear of failure, I returned to school to become a licensed court reporter. I worked as a CR, loving my career and the fact that I worked with people and words, until, at age 56, a spinal injury in July 2006 forced me from the work that I’d so enjoyed. Two years and two surgeries later, I slowly came to the realization that, overnight, it seemed, my life as a court reporter had abruptly ended. I prayed to be shown the path I should take. One day in 2008 I was sitting with pen in hand, wondering whether I should try to write an autobiography for my family or perhaps some other nonfiction work. The problem with that, I realized, is that I do not tend to enjoy reading such works. If you don’t enjoy it, you cannot write it well, I understood. Suddenly the ideas flowed so freely that I was challenged to keep up in order to get them written down. The Rape of Faith, my very first story, had been born. I also gleaned how to be helpful to others with my stories, as I'd prayed about. For example, the main subject of The Rape of Faith is rape. At the end of the story I’ve written a personal letter to the reader which includes where and how to find help. A friend, an avid reader, asked me if I'd considered making this a series. Intrigued, decided to see if this story had simply been a flash in the pan. My second story is now mostly completed, and I have a basic outline for a third story. It was not the feared one-time shot. I believe that I have found my niche, and I am excited that my love of words has found expression in a manner that may prove helpful or even pleasurable to others. I have discovered a passion, greater than almost any other that I have ever known, in writing about how my sleuth helps to solve yet another crime. I would like to see myself in the role of $$ contributor once again, despite having learned to live with constant, chronic pain. I am hopeful that this will be my new career: mystery novel author. Interests: WRITING. Great grandchildren, pets, observing others, laughing, reading and more reading, writing my stories, and more.
