Patricia Cooper

1-16 Murdoch Street
Cambridge, Ontario, Canada

Email: pcooper@istar.ca

Currently retired from a very rewarding 20 years of freelance business writing, editing, composition (including more than 10,000 CVs). Presented workshops and instructed students on résumé writing and job search. My self-help book on Effective Résumé writing was commissioned by the local school system libraries and colleges, including the University of Waterloo, Ontario Canada. It is now out of print, but also out of date!
I have completed a mainstream novel, based on memories and the experiences of children (including myself) in an evacuation school during WW2 and am currently seeking an agent to represent this work. I am working on a sequel and have also completed outlines for a trilogy of historical romance novels.
I have had my work objectively critiqued by published authors, university professors and peer writing groups. The reactions and responses I receive from all are gratifyingly positive.

On a more personal note:
Born in Worcestershire, England, I was five years old when WW2 started. Shipped off to an evacuation prep school in 1940, I did not emerge from the British boarding and finishing school system until I was 19. So it was not much of a surprise to anyone who knew me, when I signed up for the Merchant Navy and went off to see the world. Working as an Assistant Purser aboard long distance passenger liners (when aeroplanes still had propellers), I travelled the world and got paid for it. Predictably, I married a fellow officer and in 1968, emigrated to Canada. Widowed in the 80s, with four sons to raise, I moonlighted as a freelance business writer and secretary. The business became full time and flourished until I retired in 2000. To celebrate the Millennium, I reunited with former shipmates on a 3-month charter cruise around Africa, Indian Ocean and the Mediterranean, organized by our former company, Union-Castle Line. This winter (2003) we all again reunited for a world cruise.
I live in Ontario, close to my family (seven grandchildren now) but also spend time in the UK for research!

Interests: My interests are reading, writing, travel, gardening and classical music, but not necessarily in that order. Above all, I enjoy PEOPLE I also enjoy meeting and interacting with other writers, both published and unpublished and am a member of a writers g
