After attending the Pakistan Military Academy Kakul, graduated from Karachi University with economics, political science, and history (1976). Attended more than twenty courses and workshops in Pakistan, London, Singapore and USA, including full semesters in Marketing and Business Communications at IBA Karachi. Completed distant learning course, ‘Nonfiction Article Writing’, conducted by Writer’s Digest, USA. Speak fluent Arabic some French, and proficient in Urdu and English. Qualified in Journalism subject in Pakistan Central Superior Services examinations (BA Honours standard).
Had feasibility study carried out for launching Reader’s Digest in Urdu language and presented reports at their headquarters in Pleasantville, N.Y. USA. Edited a monthly, Neighbourhood for two years, published over a 100 articles in periodicals including Dawn, The News, The Friday Times and Humsafar (Pakistan International Airline’s in-flight magazine). Subjects included: travel, socio-economics, business, management, global issues, parapsychology, music, personality interviews and book-reviews. Contributed a fortnightly column to the daily, The News, titled ‘Entrepreneur’.
A founder member, later elected President of Karachi chapter of Toastmasters International, a USA based not-for-profit, communication and leadership development club.
Over thirty years of working experience in Pakistan and overseas, with International and private organizations. International Trading, Logistics, General Management, and Marketing/sales are main areas of expertise. Worked as export consultant. Presently, the exclusive representative in Pakistan for two New Zealand companies trading in raw sheep wool. Since the last four years, also running a bookstore, Good Books, in Karachi.
Hobbies included: photography, playing sitar, traveling, parachuting, and reading.
