Nduka Onwuegbute

Midlands, UK, United Kingdom

I was born in Manchester, U.K, of Nigerian parentage, but left very early in life to Nigeria for a short visit. The siad visit, however, lasted just over twenty years, so I thought I might bag myself a bit of education. As a result, I studied at the University of Ibadan and University of Jos.

While in school, I did a bit of writing for television and the stage. I also toured some schools in Nigeria with my first published play, "Drums That Dance in the Dark" which also premiered in Leicester, England.

I have been involved in some community film projects for social intergration and am looking at developing my interests along those lines.

My first novel, "Masters of the Confluence"is a story set in 19th Century Nigeria, exploring the love triangle between Anashi and two cousins who are hell bent on killing themslves to possess her, while the danger of slave raiders hang over all their heads.

It while in Jos, that I met and married my wife. We now live in England. I have since returned to the United Kingdom, but much of my writing is mostly influenced by my experience in Nigeria.
