My book entitied: Angels in the Landfill (Mixed Blessings and Saving Graces) is a collection of stories and essays written over time, and some are about surviving this broken world on faith and hope alone. It is humorous at times and contemplative and sorrowful too, but leaves the reader encouraged and uplifted - and with the knowledge that if we have God in our lives, we have everything we need.
I live a Walden-esque existence in the SC woods with my 2 dogs: Timothy Pavlov, and Nadine (who I inherited from my murdered daughter). I'm somewhat of a minimalist and fairly isolated both by choice and by circumstance. I'm also a wildlife habitat educator and creator; I believe we are called to be good stewards of all of Creation and to walk gently on this earth while we're here. I love nature, absolutely adore animals - - both he wild and domestic kinds =) but don't like seeing any of them caged. I used to be active in off-track rescue of TB horses who'd broken down while racing (like Barbaro) but now I just have one, the SnowMare.
I am a former mom, RN, guitar teacher, dog trainer, ebay seller, president of a humane society, wildlife rehabilitator, 'foster mom' for homeless animals, and humane investigator. Now I write and blog full-time. My only child, a precious 21 yo daughter, was killed at the hands of her fiance' in 2001, so I'm well-acquainted with domestic violence, death of a child, and its aftermath of heartache.
I've written for HorsePlay magazine, Skirt!, Southern Anglers, www.therunninghorse, Crying in the Silence, The Oakleaf and many more venues.
I'm a fairly liberal Episcopalian and I believe that everyone walks their own journey with God, and that path is not to be censored or questioned by others. God invited us all to the feast! Be blessed, and walk with love and peace. Vaya con Dios (Go with God) ....carlynn Interests: fighting domestic violence and child abuse, assisting those people dealing with grief/death/healing, spiritual growth, animal welfare, environmental concerns and habitat restoration, the Quiet Garden movement, biblical research, and topical writing.
