While I can't remember when I wasn't writing - be it an oh-so-secret entry in a journal or a directionless attempt at a novel as a very unworldly eight year old - my first realization that my passion and favorite past-time could become a source of livelihood occurred in high school. My English teacher returned a term paper with a huge "A" and a "nice chatty style, you should consider writing as a career" note scribbled on it in red ink. That was all the encouragement I needed. I've been fortunate that every job I've had as an adult has allowed me to write. I've been a journalist working with U.S.News and World Report, USA TODAY, the Arkansas Gazette and the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette. I also have worked in public relations and currently serve as a director of communications. My major in history for my B.A. from Hendrix College in Conway, AR, and my master's in journalism and mass communication from UNC-Chapel Hill have enhanced both my research and writing skills. I live in Little Rock, AR.
