I have been writing stories since I was old enough to write. My first 'books' were mini books I made my mom out of notebook paper and magazine clippings to illustrate my fantastical stories about princesses and heroines.
As I grew into my teens I explored poetry and short stories, gaining some local attention when some of my poetry won awards at a National level in contest. I also wrote for the yearbook and school paper and had a short story published both in a high school creative writing journal and my college freshman newspaper.
In college I began to consider becoming an author more seriously and began researching my first novel. It took me a good three to four years to complete my first novel, hand writing every word into six- five subject notebooks as I was not able to afford a computer at the time. As time went on and a box full of notebooks to attest to it, I did multiple rewrites and finally on computer completed the final draft of my first novel, Reckless. I submitted Reckless to three publishers, before PublishAmerica accepted it in 2003 and it was published in 2004.
As a writer if I were to do one thing differently it would be to become agented before submitting the novel, and now I am actively seeking an agent to republish my first novel under my new married name, in hard cover as well as to continue the trilogy I began with the sequel and a prequel, both already in the works.
I currently write a blog called "Chasing Cornfields" where I explore many topics and editorialize as well. I have recently become rededicated to pursuing my life dream in writing and feel that without this a piece of me is missing.
Now, nearly 40 years old, I live in Iowa on my parent's farm where my spouse and I raise our four children, two dogs, two horses and three cats. I also work full time as a bank teller, until I finally become a best selling author.
