I use my experience in fields ranging from construction to entertainment to write technical material and entertaining, informative articles.
I started my working life as a reporter with the Afrikaans daily newspaper BEELD in 1990. In 1994 I jumped into a freelance career with reckless abandon.
Since then my work included writing and translating various technical documents, copy writing, scriptwriting for both entertainment and corporate videos, stage plays and magazine and newspaper articles.
Some of my more memorable projects were writing protocols for medical research, shortly after I translated and voiced a video script for farming equipment.
Having completed a four year licentiate in speech and drama in 1991, I also ventured onto stage and screen as actor, stage manager and set builder.
I broadened my technical knowledge and understanding of the construction industry by working part time as a builder and later as a carpenter.
Some of my other work experience included voice-overs, producing and directing stage plays, training voice artists and negotiating contracts as an actors' agent.
Being insatiably curious, my interests cover a delicious brew of subjects.
I am equally happy doing serious cognitive work or standing up to my elbows in an engine. Alternatively, I may cook a three course dinner after I finished building the bookshelf.
Sometimes it's good to just pitch a tent on the beach and head off with a fishing rod.
Interests: Carpentry, outdoors, camping, fishing, theatre, screen, food - preserving, processing, cooking, growing vegetables and herbs.
