I was born on 12 February 1969 in Manica and grew up and studied in Zimbabwe. I trained as a secondary teacher from Belvedere Teachersº College (an affiliate of the University of Zimbabwe) and completed in 1990. I taught in Zimbabwe for twelve years in Matabeleland North (Nkayi district, 1991to 1992), Matabeleland South (1993- 1999) and Manicaland (1999- 2002).
In Mozambique I worked as a teacher for English and a private college administrator then joined an international NGO in March 2004 and was posted to Mocuba (Zambezia province). I resigned in September 2005 to further my studies in South Africa. I taught Hospitality and English at the Academy of Business and Computer Studies in Pretoria in 2006 and later joined the Watershed Group, which wanted a biu-lingual consultant for their hotel school in Maputo. Aspart of the preparation, I was intensively trained by the International Hotel School (Durban) and the Hotel and Lodging Educational Institute (USA). I assumed duty in Maputoin January 2007 and worked the whole year. I also did my MBA Foundation Certificate in Management in the same year.
In 2008 I started the Master of Business Administration and am doing the final year.I have passed eight modules and am left with four which I am doing this semester and expect to do my dissertation next year. I did my Project Management internship at the Adventist Development and Relief Agency from March-May 2008 and was involved in a wide range of strategic management operations. I also lectured part time at the Universidade Politecnica and the Institute of Professional Studies as well as did some free-lance Portuguese-English translations.
I joined Plan InternationalMozambique in January 2009 as the Learning Advisor. I have travelled twice already for the regional network in Child Protection and Participation as well as intensive training in Human rihts based approach to Child-centred Community development in Nairobi and Mombasa (Kenya), respectively. My hope is to be an international consultant in development work in Southern Africa and to see African children, especially in marginalised rural areas, get a meaningful education and live a hopefullife.
