British born I was educated and raised in what are now Zimbabw and Zambia.
Wrote a weekly column for a newspaper whilst still at school.
Began my career on a daily newspaper in Lusaka (based in Ndola) before moving
to Kenya to become a Junior programme Assistant with the African Broadcasting
Transferred to Tanzania (TBC) as Swahili Programmes Organiser. Then moved to
the South African Broadcasting Corporation in Cape Town as Announcer and
producer. Wrote numerous features before being offered the post of Senior producer
with the newly launched Kenya Broadcasting Corporation, Nairobi.
On a TV training course in London with the BBC I was offered a daily programme
on the BBC - Radio 2. I resigned from Kenya and moved to London.
I saw no great future in remaining a music/chat presenter and so returned to the
news field, presenting "South East"
The BBC World Service then invited me to script and present a thrice-daily
newsmagazine, "Outlook" where I remained for 21 years broken only by a six
month stint with WKAT Talkradio in Miami.
Special editions of 'Outlook" broadcast from various oversea countries - United
States, SIngapore, Gibraltar, Malaysia. , Writer and Producer of many features for
the BBC, including "Exploring London with Colin Hamilton".(R4 series repeated on
World Service), "Pop Goes the Music:" (exploring the popular music industry),
"Rhyme and Reason".
BFBS International Satellite - senior newsreader and presenter of weekly
"Weekend with Two".
