Augusta Okon is proudly Nigerian, comes from Cross River State in Nigeria, but was born and raised in the city of Lagos. She stepped into the world of fiction via the platfrom of fairy tales and other exciting children's stories she read from the works of renowned authors while in Corona Gbagada. This served as the path through which she would discover and harness the talent of creative writing in the literary sphere. Her first fictitious work was published by Nelson Nigeria when she was 14. The launching of the book of which present ace actor, Kanayo.O.Kanayo was the M.C, was reported during the prime time hour of the NIgerian Television Authority(NTA) Network news. She was a guest on the hit TV programme "Morning Ride" anchored by Livi Ajuonma in 1990. The defunct "Lagos Horizon" Newspapers also featured her in one of its publications. Her second fictitious work "Trust NO ONE" was published by Nelson two years later. In 1993, The Maiden International Children's convention Award powered by Interclassic Ltd was presented to her by Mrs Otedola, wife of the then Governor of Lagos State. The event was covered by Lagos Televison (LTV) and broadcast during its news hour. She gained admission into the University of Ibadan where she bagged an LL.B in Law, then a BL from Law school. Having stayed away from the writing path for over fifteen years, a dramatic twist in fate re-directed her once more on to the path her heart had yearned for. She's back, bigger, and better with her latest novel "THe side walk" which hopefully will be published this year. Despite the abscence from the literary terrain, ingenity writing sparks now and again through various mediums have served as a reminder of its existence viz-a-viz its presumed departure flight. She was given a commendation certificate in recognition of her meritorious service to the state by NYSC(Osun State). She wrote an article in 2007 in the run up to the nation's election which was published by the Vanguard Newspapers. A striking comment from the article was extracted by the BBC news monitoring team and quoted on their online site.In 2008 an extract from her article "Lagos state:Unleashing the tourism experience" was feaured in the brochure of the maiden edition of the African culture and Tourism Awards 2008.
