I began telling stories as soon as I could talk. The splendor of the Adirondack Mountains and Lake Champlain seeped into my being, as did the rhythms of small-town life. My storytelling now draws inspiration from the richness of my experiences and the diverse personalities Iíve encountered while living, working, and raising a family in New York, Delaware, Vermont, Ontario, Quebec, Ohio, and Illinois. I am passionate about justice, equality, and freedom of the spirit. I taught the art of writing to Chicagoland middle-schoolers, whose curiosity, energy, and enthusiasm for life gave me insight into the dreams of the sometimes disregarded.
I write of everyday quirkiness, getting to the heart of lifeís yearnings, ambiguities, and idiosyncrasies. Visit my literary blog, "And Then..." - www.elliesearl.blogspot.com.
I belong to Write Impressions, a group of four women writers (Bernadette Adora, Mary Lou Edwards, Carolyn B Healy, Ellie Searl). Our group literary blog, "Write Impressions," is at www.writeimpressions.blogspot.com. We recently published the book, LITTLE DID WE KNOW: MAKING THE WRITE IMPRESSION, a collection of engaging stories that get to the heart of the joys, sorrows, yearnings, ambiguities, pains, and outrageous truths found in our everyday lives. The stories are filled with the passion, humor, empathy, and profound understanding of the human spirit. The book is available at www.amazon.com and www.bn.com. A sequel, MORE THAN MEETS THE EYE(I): MAKING THE WRITE IMPRESSION, is due to be published in the fall of 2009.
My husband Ed and I live in La Grange, Illinois, a western suburb of Chicago, close to the Burlington Northern Railway. I'd much rather be under the peaks and pines of the Pacific Northwest or in the foothills of the Adirondacks on Lake Champlain.
Interests: reading, writing(anything), graphic design, web design, kick biking, back road adventures, every spot in the Adirondack Mountains, the Green Mountains, and the Cascades, Canada, keeping up with the times, and promoting the good life
