Joshua Blackwell
Walterboro, South Carolina, United States Email: jbblackwell@gmail.com Growing up in the shadows of the Dark Corner, Beau Blackwell was driven to his career as a professional historian by the mystique of Appalachian culture and whiskey production. As a child, continuing through adolescence, the author was fortunate enough to spend a sizeable amount of time in the wilderness of northwestern South Carolina. There he kept steady tabs on the ruins of the defunct moonshine culture that he occasionally uncovered. Later, as a student at the College of Charleston, the author drew from these experiences to build the foundation for a career in both the historical and educational fields. After graduating from the College of Charleston with a Bachelor of Arts in History, the University of Charleston with a Master of Arts in History, and Converse College in Spartanburg, SC with a Master of Arts in Teaching; the author is presently employed as a high school teacher and as an adjunct History professor at two local colleges.
