I am a 44 year old mother and grandmother. When I am not spending time with my 3 sons or my 2 grand-daughters or my husband and I are not boating or powered parachuting, I am writing. My family gives me a lot to write about. The things that my husband and I do together also gives me some of my writing jobs. I am a freelance writer for several places such as Heartland Boating, River Hills Traveler, Yorkshire Terrier, Pontoon & Deck Boat, Action Pursuit, Houseboat, Aero Sports Connection and Dialogue Magazines. My most recent article was published in the Writer Magazine, where I had the opportunity to give some tips to other writers. I have also been published in the M.S. Newsletter, Quiet Mountain Essays, Story Circle Network, AKC Newsletter and the Leader Publication newspaper. I had my first book published, "From the Heart of the Mother," in January 2007. It is composed of short stories and poems about motherhood and my 20 year battle with Multiple Sclerosis (M.S.). My second book just came out in December 2008, "Our Spiritual Makeover." Right after that I won first place in a poetry contest about Christmas titled "Christmas Memories." I came in first place out of 71 entries. My husband & I take aerial photos of the events I cover and the places and things that I write about. I really meet some interesting people doing that, but my true love in writing is about my family and our experiences. That type of writing is straight from my heart. I have been published in several books, newsletters and online publications lately. In fact, I was published in three books in the winter of 2009, including "Chicken Soup for the Soul: Count Your Blessings," "Voices of Multiple Sclerosis" and "Good Dogs Doing Good." I plan to keep freelance writing, maybe enter a few more contests and I'm starting to write some songs. I'm having a lot of fun with that. I've also been inspired to write my third book lately by a famous writer from 60's, 70's 80's & 90's. Sylvia Resnick was a writer for many Hollywood stars through that time period, but took time off for health reasons. After a ten year break, she is back again - and she sent me an email compliment of my writing after seeing a sample of it on Worldwide Freelance Newsletter. That has inspired me to write about my spinal surgery. Who knows maybe it will help those who have Spina Bifida.
