Karin teaches social Latin dance in Anchorage, Alaska. She regularly teaches series at The Alaska Club. Her dance training includes salsa, Argentine tango, west coast swing, modern, jazz, and West African dance. Karin writes articles on social dance for her website Joy in Motion. She is particularly interested in the concepts of connection, musicality, grounded energy, and flow.
Karinīs passion for Latin dance is inspired by her love of Latin music. From bachata to reggaeton, from flamenco to samba, she is fascinated by music and its relationship to history and culture. This year, Karin will complete her Bachelor of Arts degree in Spanish and Russian from the University of Alaska Anchorage. Her study of the Spanish language and Hispanic culture and history influences her appreciation of Latin music and dance.
Karin's passion for "joy in motion" also extends to other forms of movement. She is a nationally-certified personal trainer and Pilates instructor with extensive experience in sports conditioning and coaching. She considers herself a student of movement and is especially interested in the mind/body connection and structural integration.
