Anu Prabhakar

Dubai, United Arab Emirates

When life shows its ugly face, I am happy to be able to 'switch off' and wander into a world where there are no unpleasant 'surprises', where things take off as exactly as planned and you don't have to wake up in the morning wondering whether you will return to bed in the night feeling happy/depressed/angry. To have complete control over your life is almost God-like. No, it IS God-like.
This is one of the many reasons why I love writing short stories for that complete control over characters, their tears and laughter, plots, settings and so on.
I am a reporter working in Dubai. Though I have gotten the chance to get quite a few of my articles published in the magazine I work for, I am yet to get my short stories published in a magazine. I am hoping this is the first step to become a publisher writer!
I really find it difficult to specify what I like to write about. It completely depends on the idea that hits me, catching me off guard. One day it might be about the lonely beggar on the streets, and the next about the rich businessman who longs to be a lonely beggar on the street!
