Writer Memberships: SCBWI member since October 2004. Influences:Sir Conan Doyle, Charles Dickens, J.R. Tolkien, Ann Downer, Jenny Nimmo, Holly Black, and many, many more. Personal Information: I have been writing for several years. After I wrote my first book, Amber Shadows and the Missing Wands, I took on the task of illustrating the chapter headers. Originally, I hadn't thought of doing my own illustrations because I hadn't sketched in 25 years. As fate would have it, I decided to chance it and found sketching to be another outlet for my creative side. When my book came out, I was very surprised at how well the illusrations turned out. After 4 1/2 years of polishing and revising, I self-published my first book in the series on July 20, 2007. In 2008 Amber Shadows won Spinetinglers Book of the Year award, and in 2009 it won the YA genre Book of the Year through Authorsandbooks.net. My Amber Shadows and the Missing Wands script made it into the finals through the Inkwell Opportunity contest. Now I'm back to working on Amber Shadows and the Crystal Locket. HISTORY OF MARKETING: Amber Shadows and the Missing Wands went on a Global Book Tour with my publisher to the New York Book Expo of America on May 29 - June 1st, the Beijing China International Book Festival on Sept. 1st-4th, the Frankfurt, Germany Book Fair on October 15th-19th, and the London Book Fair in spring 2009. I made an appearence at the Chicago Tribune Printers' Row Festival in 2008, and sold and signed books.
