Nikki Smith

I'm a stay at home mother. I have two kids (that alone gives me plenty of material should I ever venture into the realm of kiddie books). When I was about eight years old I wrote a two hundred page story that my mother still talks about to this day. (My brother ripped up the pages one day and I never re-wrote it).
With the encouragement from my mother (which isn't saying much, is it?) I decided to attempt my first novel. I rushed the plot, so here I am at work on my second.
I'm 22 years old and this just about sums up the only experience I have writing, with the exception of a few poems I had published when I was a kid.
From what I've seen from myself I tend to gravitate toward the mystery genre. It's what I like to read. However, plotting isn't my strong point, which seems to me like a pretty important aspect of a mystery novel. You've got have those twists and turns, you know?
My real passion lies in character development. I have a knack for it and I really enjoy it.
I've scanned the forums and already I feel much smarter! This seems like a good place to continue to learn.
