Washington, North Carolina, United States Email: spenterry@yahoo.com I'm getting older now. The sun sets earlier than it used to. My memory has not diminished it is just crowded in there. So many memories, so many years, so little time. There's not the room to write my life here and you wouldn't have the time to read it. But it was anything but boring.
Born in Connecticut at the start of the great depression, I was fortunate enough to have parents who survived. With a family active in government and politics, my mind was stimulated to discover my heritage and family history. Tracing this family history took me all the way back to 940 AD. This was the earliest record available. One ancestor, from where our family name derived, was the second son of the first Earl of Spencer. As a result of his exploits as the first Knight Templar with Richard in the crusades we came by the name Terry. As Puritans running from the King in 1583 they escaped to Belgium. In 1621 one came to Plimouth colony, (the spelling is correct!). In 1627 the rest came to Essex Connecticut then in 1645 moved to Orient Point Long Island. In 1647 they built the house where I was raised.
Knowing this much family history, and the fact that my paternal G-G-G Grandfather, (a legislator, farmer in NY and one of the seven who were instrumental in the building of the erie canal), made copious notes about his life in the back of the family bible, which I read many times in the house where he was born and I was raised. (The house is still standing 355+ years to date, with a Terry still living in it!). There I found the record of his life during the war of 1812. So what else? I wrote the historical Novel "DANIEL'S PRIVATE WAR". Perhaps not a crowning glory, but, a hell of a story just the same. I had to create some of the story, as you might guess, because Daniel was a very cryptic record keeper.
I also wrote "Timothy" a completely fictional story about a young boy growing up in a dysfunctional family. Here you will find all those strange and wonderful folks I have come across during my life. I used some their stories to give Timothy life.
Perhaps, someday, both will be published. "Daniel", as the history of one life. "Timothy", as a peek into many lives. When writing Timothy I put in some very sexy scenes. My three daughters, upon reading this salacious material, said. "MORE DADDY,MORE.". "they were all grown up, just in case you ask".
Timothy is finished and in publication as "Timothy and the Ring of the Warrior" (Publishamerica.com), Daniel is a work in progress.
Yours, in feverish anticipation. A friend in need of more friends.
