Lissa Forbes

Lafayette, Colorado, United States

Home page:

Have you ever uttered the words, "I wish I knew more about ... Mom, Dad, Aunt Sally"? You're not alone. This is one reason Lissa Ann Forbes does the work she does--preserving the very personal, unique stories for those who know their heirs will ask that very question.

Her personal pull to the work is that she was adopted at the age of two in Stuttgart, Germany. As she grew up, she noticed something others took for granted—that they knew who their grandparents were, and aunts, uncles, even great-grandparents and more.

It became her mission to help people save and share that history for generations to come. Because of her experience, she has a profound appreciation of family ties and roots--and she wants others to appreciate theirs.

She has worked on many varied book projects: a high school graduate in captioned photos, a couple who celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary, a woman who gave up a son for adoption, a small business owner/aerospace engineer who worked on every space mission from 1956-1972, a WWII veteran—a glider pilot, a gentleman celebrating his 80th birthday, and more.

Lissa Ann Forbes, nationally known author and speaker, founder of The Elemental Press, has a way of encouraging you to dig deep and find the highlights of your life. She has journaled for 30 years, has created softcover life story books for seven years, and is passionate about documenting personal history.

In 2007, she added DVD montages to her offerings for those who do not want to write their stories, but prefer to "show" their stories in photographs, music, and voice over clips.
