As a writer and librarian, I enjoy the whole spectrum of the literary experience,
whether it means working on a novel, helping someone find information, creating a
wiki or e-mailing a friend. Communication is the manifestation of our soul.
I was born and raised in Los Angeles, California. I studied Rhetoric at UC
Berkeley (BA 1987) and then Professional Writing at USC (MPW 1989).
Professional writing incorporated an understanding of publishing as well as writing.
I obtained a professional degree in Librarianship at UCLA (MLS 1993) not as an
afterthought, but to complete my training as a custodian of knowledge. Although I
love books, I understand their value as fetish objects, and I see a day coming when
they will be rare indeed. I also see a day when self-publishing and small presses
will be the rule, as it is becoming in music. This is all thanks to the machine
you're on now.
I've been writing since I could hold a pencil, and have completed several novels,
numerous short stories and three collections of poetry. I've published some poetry
and a few travelogues. My first published book was "Scream at the Librarian",
Booklyn Artists Cooperative, 2007.
