I failed in my entrance exam for my second class because my pencil tip broke. I took the tip and held it in the hand and wrote the entrance exam. My father had to use his influence to get me admission. I developed very bad hand writing because I was always unsure of my spellings. Especially where I should put “o” and where I should put “a”. That speaks volumes about my writing skills. I joined IIT because my brother joined it. The motivation to join a management school was prompted by the fact I met an alumni who said that if you pass out of IIM Ahmadabad you will get an excellent job. After IIM joined premji in WIPRO and working directly under him. I joined Premji as I had an ambition that I should become an MD of a public company. I worked my backside off and by the time I was 35 I was an MD of a company. Soon realised that I did not enjoy it. one fine morning I gave up job and became a consultant .I had a fascination for family businesses which were very successful though they never followed the well publicised Harvard practises, so I was a family business consultant to several family businesses and wrote my first book called” inheriting the mantle” ,Sage publication in 2001 (isbn 0-7619-9520-x ) US. The first book took four years to complete and after publishing made a decision that I would never write research based books. I experienced being an entrepreneur (started a management consultancy firm catering to multinationals and Trans nationals.), professor (in IIM Bangalore and TAPMI), Advisor for a technical education institution and a trustee for a Nongovernmental organization. My children are gown up married and independent. My wife runs a farm and is also independent. I became quite tired of management and consultancy. I became a painter and someone suggested blogging. My success in blogging has again revived my interest in writing and now I want to write fiction and poetry. So here I am.
