Jimmy Combs is originally from Cincinnati, Ohio, and a graduate of Princeton High School, class of 1974. After graduation, he joined the United States Army Infantry and spent 13 years as a member of the 101st Airborne Division, the 2nd Infantry Division (Korea),Jungle Operations Training Center (JOTC) Panama Canal, and has trained for and participated in numerous covert operations with the 101st Airborne Division. He has a degree in Paralegal Science from Draughon's Junior College in Kingsport, Tennessee, and numerous decorations from his service in the United States Army.
Jimmy became a Christian in 1991 at the Garrard Street Church of Christ in Covington, Kentucky. He entered the minister's training program and studied under the guidance of Gaston Cogdell, minister in the Church of Christ for over 50 years. He is a Marketing Coordinator for Radac Corporation in Dayton, Kentucky, and lives with his wife, Janet, in Newport.
