I am a special education teacher by career and a writer by chance. My profound love for education, family and God all drew together as the inspiration for my first book, Soul Language Recognizing the Voice in My Heart. I have a Master's Degree from the University of Connecticut and over twenty years experience in the classroom. The majority of my writing experience has been work related including teaching writing to high school students. Prior to Soul Language I casually pursued non work-related writing as a hobby.
Three years ago I went through an ubelieveably difficult work experience, one where I found myself praying to God for guidance. The experience had a good outcome for me. I knew God had helped me but without being able to concrtely see or hear God I began to question how. Making a shift in thinking I developed a new concept of God. This new concept helped me to realize how I could concretely see and hear God and I knew how to explain it to others.
For the most part I live a pretty idyllic life but all that serenity allows me the balance to work as a teacher at an urban middle school (Yikes! Junior High!) where the povery level of the student's families is around 90%.
M family is the driving force behind everything I do. I come from a fading American classic, the large family. I am the second oldest of eight children. I have been happily married for 18 years and have four children who give me lots of inspiration.
Besides having an interest in writing about spiritual issues, I have been featured as a guest essayist in my local paper about eductional issues. I am currently working on a guidebook for parents and educators on current educational issues. I also have several plots to fiction novels in various phases of development.
I look forward to hearing from anyone interested in my work.
