Margaret Jones (www.margaretjones.com) is an author and freelance journalist living in southwest New Mexico. Her biography of country music great Patsy Cline, Patsy: the Life and Times of Patsy Cline (DaCapo Press 1999; HarperCollins 1994, 1995), was described by Michael Dorris, in the Los Angeles Times, as “Definitive… it reads as her life was lived, like the melodramatic but hopelessly ‘true’ lyrics of a Nashville ballad.”
She has appeared on numerous national, regional and local media, including NPR’s “All Things Considered,” TNN, Associated Press, United Press International, the Los Angeles Times Syndicate, and in other venues, to discuss the life and legend of Patsy Cline and to promote her book.
She is also a contributor to The Encyclopedia of Country Music (ed. Paul Kingsbury, Oxford University Press 1998), described as “the definitive historical and biographical work of the past eight decades of country music.”
Ms. Jones is the author of numerous articles and profiles on a broad range of subjects: music, dance, cinema, visual arts, literature, extreme sports, yoga, law, and health. She was a contributing editor of Publishers Weekly for six years, covering news, trends and personalities in U.S. publishing. Her articles have been published by The Journal of Country Music, Los Angeles Magazine, the Los Angeles Times, Los Angeles Reader, Santa Barbara News-Press, Yoga Journal, New Mexico Magazine, and other magazines and newspapers.
