Andy Polaine
Offenburg, Germany I am a freelance writer, designer and lecturer with over 130 published articles and chapters to my name. I write a monthly column called Foreign Policy for Desktop magazine in Australia and I have written for several other magazines and newspapers.
In 1994 I co-founded an award-winning interactive agency in the UK, Antirom, and have since gone on to be a Senior Lecturer and Professor of new media in Australia and Germany (where I now live).
I write about design, education and emerging cultural forms, media and technologies. I often forecast trends and am an able and entertaining public speaker. I have travelled widely, lived in three different countries and speak three languages (just about). I'm in the process of finishing my PhD on the topic of play and interactivity. My academic life is concerned with the future of education and convening worldwide online collaborative projects that deal with issues of ethics and social awareness through creative means.
Alongside my non-fiction writing I am also working through the second draft of a novel to prepare it for submission to agents and publishers. When I have a spare moment, I also write short stories.
