I have been writing for twenty-five years, starting with fantasy and science fiction, but lately I have written three books that could be described as urban fantasy or police based fantasy-thrillers. Some of my favorite authors include Michael Moorcock, Tad Williams, Robert Jordan, Stephen King, Elmore Leonard, Kurt Vonnegut, Robert Heinlein, Melanie Rawn, Steinbeck, Hemingway, and so on. The list goes on and on.

At the tender age of eighteen I ran off to Hollywood California to attend the Musicianís Institute, dreaming of rock and roll glory, and learning about what it takes to succeed at something you love. As many writers do I grew up and became, responsible, but I continued to write and dream.

I earned my Bachelorís Degree in Psychology in 1995 and a Masterís Degree in Public Administration in 2006. Currently I am a police detective assigned to the Exploited Missing Child Unit and the SWAT team. I also worked in the Gang Unit which assists the Homicide Section more often than not.

Writing comes more easily to me than other things and when I am making stories I feel that the world makes sense. I understand the meaning of the word vocation. It is good to have a calling. Even when I am not typing or scribbling I am writing in my head, which I differentiate from regular daydreaming, though that is important as well.

Every year I write at least one book to submit to agents and publishers. I also have separate projects that I self publish. This is a great learning experience, though frustrating at times. The life of a self published author is full of peril. THE CHRONICLES OF KIN ROLAND is available in paper back and download versions at my web site: www.moonstruckbooks.com

I believe many people have the talent to write but few have the discipline to endure the work part. I write 1,000 words a day and treat it like a job, a fun job, but something serious none the less. For me the most grueling aspect is researching and submitting my work to agentís and editors. I have one exciting prospect at DAW Books. I am still waiting for their decision.

So thatís my Bio. I invite you to read a sample of THE CHRONICLES OF KIN ROLAND at: www.moonstruckbooks.com
